ONE OF THESE DAYS ...
As The Lake Churns is proud to present the latest Mike Wagoner CD release "One of These Days"
which has been in the works for sereral months. It is now available for purchase clicking HERE where you can listen to songs.
I have mainly patterned my style of singing and playing after two guys...Neil Young and Willie Nelson. The album I've created is simple in structure and production...built around my acoustic Martin guitar...with some bass guitar and mellow snare drum. I like to think it's something you would play on a Sunday afternoon...when you're baking something or cleaning up your place.
This has been the first CD I've made that consists of stuff I really like to listen to and play...not so much what I thought might get produced around Nashville. It's stuff that's real to me. Feels good. Tunes that came about from living...things that have really occurred to me personally. Anyway...a body has to have some reason to get out of bed in the morning...for me...doing this kind of thing helps. All The Best

Mike has been entertaining at Priest Lake for decades. Anyone who claims to be a "Priest Laker" cannot do so unless they have heard Mike's music and been able to appreciate the fun he brings to our enjoyment of North Idaho. Mike has a history that starts with Mike solo, at Hills in the early '70s, to Sav and Slime, ( a duo) to Trapper Creek Band, to the Mike Wagoner Band that now caresses us with their creations.
We are doubly blessed because his daughter, Sadie, an unusually gifted singer, on occasion, sings with the band and regularly dumbfounds the audience with her unique presentations. If we are fortunate enough to be there when she feels like singing we count it as a lucky day. Mike's CDs are in big demand so if found at local outlets, load up.
We are glad to be able to give our "As The Lake Churns" readers and insight into Mike and his history at Priest Lake, as well as a special look at his daughter Sadie and her musical union with her Dad. She really is just another teenager who happens to sing.
Mike’s collection of original songs is varied – from country-rock to ballads and soulful folk, with a peppering of humorous songs throughout. One of his many musical talents is to put his signature spin on forgotten classics, bringing them new life. He also has an uncanny ear for covering the great vocalists – from Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, to Elvis Presley and Neil Young.
"Just Playin' for Fun" also marks the debut of a new artist - 11 year-old Sadie Wagoner. Sadie is doubly blessed with musical genes - half from Mike, the other half from her singer-songwriter mom, Jenai. Take a listen to the last track on the album (after you've heard the first 8, of course!) and you'll hear what Janis Joplin or Bette Midler might have sounded like as a pre-teen.
