PRIEST LAKE FREE FISHING DERBY IS JUNE 8

The annual Priest Lake Kids Fishing Derby, cosponsored by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, the Priest Lake Sportsman’s Association, and the Priest Lake Lions Club is set to take place on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 - Free Fishing Day in Idaho.

Starting at 8:00 a.m. running till noon, the derby promises to be a day filled with excitement and educational opportunities. FREE EVENT

Anglers are encouraged to bring their fishing gear as the fish are expected to be biting. For those without equipment, fishing rods with reels, line, weights and bobbers will be provided for as needed. Bait will be provided free. Upon entering the event, all kids will receive a free t-shirt and a goody

bag filled with treats. Age limit for kids is 15 years of age.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will stock the fishpond used at the Priest Lake Golf Course with over 1,000 fish and the Kalispel Tribe will stock the pond with a dozen large fish. The angler who catches the biggest fish will earn the grand prize and the “Bob Shanklin Big Fish Plaque” given in honor of a great supporter of our event.

To keep energy levels up, free hot dogs, chips, cookies, soda, water, and juice will be available for all attending our event.
